How do you handle being EVERYTHING for EVERYONE?

WASA Members,

My question for the membership is, “How do you manage to be EVERYTHING for EVERYONE at ALL TIMES?” This might just be a case of the Mondays, but how do YOU balance it all? What strategies do you implement? Delegate? Breaks to de-stress? Other ideas?

We are all in this together and I appreciate your insights.

First - how does one know they are Everything for Everyone at ALL TIMES:) Just kidding SMILE
Second - My system is simple never put off tomorrow what can be done RIGHT NOW when it comes to staff. It comes up I deal with it ASAP that could simply be because I have no patience! Plus once negative or apprehensive situations are taken care they quit stressing you out and quit taking your energy. I learned that putting things off just creates worry and stress that could be in the rear-view mirror instead of still on the schedule.
Third - I l plan the major activities I MUST get done everyday, week, and month.
Fourth - Exercise, sleep, breathing, nutrition
Fifth - know your limits and take a break when you need it.
Sixth - I pray for strength and the correct words.

It's a fair question. As leaders, we're not really good (sometimes) about trying to keep a little balance in our lives. For me, balance comes with perspective and I try to get that everyday by getting out of my office. Go see the preschool, walk the k-12 building, eat lunch in the workroom. 20-30 minutes a day (when I can) helps me find some balance. Get the tough stuff done early, don't let it hang over your head. Write a note to someone. Could be staff or students. Just tell them what you saw or what you heard. Their "pick me up" can be yours as well. Give yourself permission to slip away early to take the hike, 4wheeler ride, walk the dogs.

I'm trying to get my CNA refreshed before the end of the month.
