We have a question from one of our members. Mr. Craig Barringer of Sweetwater 2 is looking for some information on Alternative Schools.
The questions are:
How many school districts have alternative schools?
Do the principals of those alternative schools have any roles beyond the role of a principal of that school?
Please submit your comment below. I would suggest if you do not have an Alternative School that you do not respond as that would lengthen the discussion.
We have an alternative school and our principal has no other duties.
Goshen 1-
-Started an alternative school last school year. (20/21)
-Principal of Torrington High School and out alternative school (P{atte River School)
FCSD #25 has an alternative school. The principal there is also the dean of students at our intermediate building. That will likely change as we expand the program. But right now it houses around 30 students only.
Fremont #1 has an alternative school. Our principal there is responsible for our AfterSchool and Summer programs grant writing as well as assisting the curriculum director with high school.
Sheridan 1 has a 6-12 alternative school, and our HS principal oversees it. It is small, so we pay an extra stipend to the Principal for overseeing it.
